Personal Life of Pooja Batra

Pooja Batra was born on 27 October 1976 in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh into a Hindu, Khatri family. Her father, Ravi Batra was an army personnel and her mother Neelam Batra was a cosmetologist. She has two brothers. Her family had a background in the army, and thus they used to relocate to different places.

She completed her graduation from Fergusson College, Pune, and post-graduation in MBA from Symbiosis College, Pune. In her school days, she was very active in athletics and used to participate in 200 and 400 sprint races. She had represented her school at the National level in various races. Although she was born in Faizabad her family roots trace back to Ludhiana, Punjab.

She was fascinated by the show business from an early age as her mother was one of the top five Miss India finalists in 1971. After winning the Miss India International title in 1993, Pooja forayed into Bollywood and her first movie came out in 1997. After this, she appeared in numerous films as lead. She also appeared in Punjabi, Tamil, and Malayalam Films.

In the 90s Pooja’s name was linked to various actors which includes Actor Armaan Kohli, Akshay Kumar, and Christian Middleton. In 2002 Pooja married the Los Angeles-based orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Sonu S Ahluwalia however they parted their ways in 2011 and Pooja filed for divorce the same year. She recently married actor Nawab Shah in Delhi on 4 July 2019 in a very intimate ceremony which only included her closed ones.

Career Path

Pooja started modeling at an early age. Because her parents wanted her to first complete her education, so she initially worked as a half-time model to fund her education. When she was only 17, she took part in Miss India International and was crowned the title. After this, she started receiving offers to act in movies.

In the meantime, she shot for the commercial of Liril Shop and this brought her into the limelight. In the year 1997, she made her debut with Virasat directed by Priyadarshan. Then she worked in films like Bhai, Chandralekha, Kahin Pyaar Naa Ho Jaaye… and Haseena Maan Jayegi to name a few. Apart from the Hindi movies, Pooja also worked in Malayalam, Telugu, Punjabi, and Hollywood Films.

In the year 2014, she started working as an RJ in the USA. She made her debut in Hollywood with the 2016 film “One Under the Sun.” She is a lifetime member of the International Film And Television Club of the Asian Academy of Films and Television.
