Divya started her career as a model and she soon got a break at the age of 20. She started her career as an actress with the 2004 Telugu film Love Today. She also appeared in a video of the pop song “Aiyyo Rama” sung by Falguni Pathak. Her first Bollywood film was the 2004 patriotic film “Ab Tumhare Watan Watan Sathiyon” directed by Anil Sharma. In the film, Divya played the love interest of Akshay Kumar.

After her first Bollywood film, Divya took a break and started focusing on the direction. Divya’s first film as a director was the 2014 coming age romance film Yaariyan. Then in 2016, Divya directed Sanam Re which starred Yami Gautam, Pulkit Samrat, and Urvashi Rautela. Divya was also one of the producers of the 2015 film Roy starring Ranbir Kapoor. She returned to the silver screen as a lead in the 2021 film ‘Satyamev Jayate 2′ opposite John Abraham.
